Apart from being Sirius XM station 32 The Bridge's most played artist. I really like Sundown a lot. First GL song I ever heard was Edmund Fitzgerald in maybe 3rd grade during Music class.

Still love The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald no matter how many times I hear.

Powerful Dude, If You Could Read My Mind..one of the best songs ever, his acoustic rhythm groove has been rare in music, but he was disciplined enough to do it. He and Tony Rice are friends, that says a lot.
I love his music.

Incredible song writer. Right up there with the best of them imo. I know every bar fly guitarist plays it but the wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald so hauntingly beautiful. Plus the dude reminds me of my dad.

quote:Is that true? I do see him come up a lot. I rarely change the channel. His best known songs are incredible.

He's a Canadian national treasure. A songwriter second to none. More than likely woke many a loved woman up early on a Sunday morning with a hot cup of coffee and a personal rendition of Sundown as she slipped on her faded jeans and realized she had, indeed, made sweet honey with Gordon fricking Lightfoot.
He wrote WOTEF on a napkin on an airplane after he heard the news.

The song "Sundown" was written about his girlfriend (at the time) Cathy Smith. Years later Cathy Smith became famous for shooting up John Belushi with speedballs and killing him. By the way, I read a rumor that she is now the singer of a rock band that primarily plays in the Baton Rouge area. Anyone know any information about that band?
