Alanis Morissette You Oughta Know
Carly Simon Your So Vain

These two came to mind. Sue Saad and the Next had one they played in concert back when punk rock was hot, but they never recorded it.

Any other ones you can think of?

listen to Le Tigre's self-titled debut album Le Tigre and then watch the documentary The Punk Singer about one of the founding member of the band.

great album and a superb film.

Thank you for all the suggestions (and they were all good). This board always comes through with some great suggestions.

Ani DiFranco - Napoleon

Sleater-Kinney - Modern Girl

The Pretenders - Special

Seven Year Bitch - MIA (which is literally about how one of the band members was raped and murdered)

Red Aunts - Poison Steak

Corrin Tucker Band - Groundhog Day

This is probably their signature tune, but... its great and angry!

Sleater-Kinney - I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone

old school D.C./Dischord

Slant 6 - What Kind of Monster Are You?

probably the best in the past couple of years (their whole record actually)

Savages - Husbands

good calls on Liz Phair, PJ Harvey and Kathleen Hanna (her other bands, Bikini Kill and The Julie Ruin are very good too)

edit: Great angry/depressed song about Nirvana that predates Nevermind (originally done acoustically with the Blake Babies)

Juliana Hatfield - Nirvana

and why not.. one about the environment..

Blake Babies - Cesspool
