re: What all-time great band/artist have you never "got"?

So many, but off the top - Rush. I jsut can't get into them. Also Phish and WSP

On another level, bands that I can sorta appreciate but dont really like that much - greatful dead, dave matthews, gosh prolly a bunch more.

I own four Sonic Youth albums despite the fact I find them all to be unlistenable. I understand their importance to the music scene, but I don't like them in any form at all.

I also don't like Queen. I understand Freddie Mercury's talent, as well as Brian May's. I really WANT to like them, as I'm pretty sure I'm the one who is wrong on this one. I just... don't like them. I don't know what is, but I just dislike their sound on an unexplainable, visceral level.

Go listen to In My Life, Blackbird, Yesterday, ect,ect and tell me it's drivel.

I'm not sure if either of these qualify as "greats" but I've never been able to stand either The Killers or Muse.

Yeah, safe to say that you don't "get" the Grateful Dead.




Although I think that Sigur Ros has some pretty songs, and they would probably be great live, I could never get into them.

Grimes is another artist that is fluffed hard that I absolutely cannot understand.

Neither are all time greats, but whatever.
