I find it funny that the big complaint about Jazzfest is that the organizers focus on big names that draw huge crowds and make it an unpleasant experience. Yet, VooDoo usually gets only a couple of "big" name acts and people bitch that there's no one they want to see.

in theory, because one is a heritage based festival that WAAAAAY overdraws its venue....

while the other is the standard issue 3 day commercial festival that way underwhelms compared to its peers. and is just generally poorly run.

The "heritage based festival" costs the same as the "commercial festival".

The heritage based festival has a ticketing scheme that freauently makes it impossible to see the headline acts. They charge the same for booze and food as the commercial festival.

The commercial festival refunded everyone for the price of one day when weather made it impossible to hold the festival. The heritage based festival gave a 50% refund for the same reason.

I love JazzFest as much as the next guy, but to claim it's anything other than a money maker for its sponsors and promoters is laughable.

Also, how is Voodoo poorly run? I've been going to both for the last decade and Voodoo is a much more pleasant experience.

At Jazz fest nearly half a million attend over 7 days @ 65000 a day.
Voodoo is 30k a day

Jazz fest has a couple headliners a day, then a bunch of artist who practically play for free.

Per day, voodoo has similar amount of headliners. Voodoo doesn't have the same superstars jazz fest does ( especially this year) , but decent headliners and much stronger mid tier artist.

When I get earlybird tickets for voodoo my price is cheaper than jazz fest.

I'll never go to JF again, too crowded.

I'd like to see Ghost and Tool Saturday. What is the best way to park/get there? I see they run a shuttle from the Hyatt downtown, but $60 x 2 seems ridiculous to ride a freaking bus across town.

Uber or walk to Canal and take the streetcar to city park

No Arcade Fire love? I'd be fired up to see them. Do they suck live, or something?

No. They're awesome live. Jazzfest shows were great.
