After the disaster that was their last album, this new record seems to be pretty back to the basics.

It's alright. They'll never top those first 3 though.

you really think so? I found it impossible to listen to. I love everything up until the last one. That one was decent enough, but this one I couldn't go more than two spins. He sings for the sake of hearing his voice now, which means there is no original orchestration to the vocals. The music is bland and boring. I am over this once great band.

New album is a load of pompous shite. They get more pretentious and less interesting with each album. Black Holes and Revelations was fantastic but since then they have been disappointing at best.

I like the new album but it isn't that great. Just oozes Queen influence. They peaked with Origin or Absolution IMO. Showbiz was GREAT and Origin was basically an amped up and more polished version. Absolution is a great listen from beginning to end. Black Holes was solid. Resistance was good. 2nd law was mostly meh and this one is a slight step up.

Muse were/are at their best when Bellamy just hits the Fuzz Factory and goes crazy and Howard has a basic drum kit without the digital shite.

Typically skip the first two and last track, but the other songs are pretty good. First listen through I wasn't sold, but they grew on me after that with some of the chord progressions.
Definitely not like their old riff-driven stuff, but it is still better than most of the crap coming out now, IMO.
