I think its their second best album behind their self-title. Very good. Much better than that POS Ursa Major.

Standout songs for most will be "Back to Zero", "Exiles", "Rites of Passage" or "Dopamine".

We'll both catch a lot of shite for liking this band, but as a classically trained pianist and beginning my 3rd solo album tomorrow, I feel I have the merit to comment on their success. If someone rips them for the doo doo doo stuff then, fair enough its cheesy as shite, but to discredit "Blue" and their self titled album is beyond ignorant. The 3 songs ending Third Eye Blind (background, motorcycle driveby, god of wine) might be the best ending of an album I've ever heard. While they are very mediocre live, they are a phenomenal group in the studio so I'm very excited about Dopamine.

Could care less what people who like shitty jam bands think of me. The day one of them writes anything as good as "motorcycle drive by" I'll eat a shite pancake. The worst track on "out of the vein" is better than the best track by the best jam band ever.

Edit. The last 3 songs of debut release is the best 3 ending tracks of any rock album ever.

I love the self titled album. I'll have to give the new one a spin.

Love these 3 tracks as well, great way to end that record. Maybe not the best ever, but very good

Listen, I like their self-titled album, too, but I think even the band members of Third Eye Blind would disagree with you.

They have high highs and low lows. Wounded, Blinded, Motorcycle Drive by and God of wine, are all insanely good songs. They aren't the most intricate (aside from lyrics) but the production and quality on the actual album makes those songs almost impossible to not like.

Jenkins was a douche for most of his career and I think only now realizing how quickly you can fall from the top.

Thanks for posting a review.

One of my favs growing up... Self titled and Blue albums are as far as I have gone.

I will however give this a shot.

right back

Stevie J would remove the "rock" distinction and say best album ever.

For sure. Stephan has his personal issues, but he was valedictorian at Berkley and has a BA in english. His lyrics are very good. If you go read the lyrics to "Tattoo of the Sun" you'll see what I'm talking about, it's pure poetry.

I've always thought "I Want You" was the best song on the album.

Gets released tomorrow. I got my hands on it last week from a local record shop. I'll be interested to see what you guys think.

Anyone who doesn't like 3eb can catch AIDS as far as i'm concerned.

The first two albums are masterpieces. Looking forward to their new album, but let's be honest, they haven't been as good since Kevin was booted from the band.

He was their creative force. IMO, there has been a lack of creativity and originality since he left the band.

Man, i love Out of the Vein. More than Blue actually.

The Red Star EP was just ok, and Ursa Major was god awful shite.

This CD is a masterpiece though.

bold statement, but I respect it. Out of the Vein was a good album but lacked the depth of the prior two. Had a good bit of fun songs but nothing that I could really grab on to like many on the first two.

I saw them at the HOB in 2013 and they rocked. Albeit only 2 original members were present.

Blue might be my favorite album of all time.
