Can you imagine sitting in the audience hearing this song the first time it was ever played?

I love this song/these songs. The Love Is Strange: En Vivo Con Tino version of this song (recorded in 2010) is pretty special. Jackson Browne's vocals are eternal.

I was listening to the live version of "Birds of St. Marks" earlier (one of my all time favorite songs), and the intro to the song is pretty funny. A guy in the audience just yells out "Do you remember 'Birds of St. Marks?!'" and Jackson just says, "You wanna hear it?" among other things.

I would be so happy to know that it was me who got him to play that and get put on the album.

I played it for some friends of mine last night who are basically "kids" of 25 and 26.

They said "ya that's a good song" but they really just didn't get it at all.

That wasn't the first time it was ever played. I think it was the second. They'd done a rough run-through either before the gig or the night before.

What it really shows is just how crack his band was. Look it up. There was a big article in Rolling Stone a couple years ago about that particular incident and his touring band at the time. They were all just about the best session players going and they've all played on some of the most successful songs from that era. That was one hell of an interesting read and really put me in awe of them.

Ya, I wasn't thinking the link I posted was first. I was more making reference to being in the audience the first time it was played as a performance and how amazing that would have been.

In other words, no one had ever heard it before.
