They were as influential on UK bands as Bob Dylan was on American ones. And they always resisted the urge to do the same thing again. Similar to Dire Straits, every album was its own new thing.

I am a huge fan of the Kinks; I wish they had never released this monstrosity (Superman)

Are you wanting to be tied or strapped in first? BDSM can definitely get freaky.

First time I heard The Kinks was in high school, so I have a really soft spot for their 80s stuff, like “Do It Again”, “Rock and Roll Cities” and “Lost And Found”. I didn’t go back and listen to their early albums until 15-20 years ago.

Party Line-Face to Face
Australia-Arthur
Strangers-Lola Versus Powerman
Supersonic Rocket Ship-Everybody's in Show-Business
Daylight-Preservation Act 1.

I'm assuming you are familiar with the Village Green album because that is one of the greatest albums of all time. Waterloo Sunset also a song you should already know.

Same here. I started listening to them a "Misfits." I saw them at the Centroplex in the early 1980's. The opening act was LeRoux.

Even the Kinks worst album, which most consider to be Soap Opera, is better than most bands best effort. I saw them on the Soap Opera tour in Atlanta and it was a great show. I always liked the album too.

I bought the Sleepwalker vinyl album in the discount rack, had a hole punched in the upper corner of the album cover to indicate its discount status.

The album has one of my all time favorite songs Jukebox Music
