I just watched this band perform on ACL on PBS this weekend. I really enjoyed it, anyone else familiar with their music?

I like em. Their first album has some quality music. Look forward to the 2nd one. They are coming to Tipitina's in November...may try to get down there for it..

The chick's got some pipes, that's for sure. I like some of their stuff, but some of their songs are definitely boring.

We saw 'em opening for someone, can't remember who. They blew us away. Fantastic show. So we picked up the album and... meh. I can't put my finger on what's missing, but the recording failed to capture something about the band that made them so entertaining.

Her voice reminded me of the broad from Of Monsters and Men

Lost in My Mind is a great song. Listen to it all the time. Rest of the album is kinda meh.

Think you and I did this opposite ways which may make a huge difference.

I had the album for a couple years and have enjoyed it for its light feel...I just found the iTunes session which is much more lively (which I'm guessing the concerts are like)...

I can see that if I saw them live before hearing the record, I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did having yet to see the live show...

Got tickets for the Tips show in November, looking forward to it

It's kind of strange since it's essentially the same thing as their album, but I think the iTunes session is so much better

Love them, but I'm into the genre. I guess indie folk is boring to some, but I find it to be the best stuff out there. Quality songwriting, vocals, musicianship...what's not to like?

Great live band too. Looking forward to the second one, but a little worried it may be more synth/electronic, which is everything I hate about most indie music.

I'm with you on this. There's about 5 other folk bands (probably way more) that sound just like them. Out of all of them, I probably like them the best, so I'll give their second record a few spins.

Head & the Heart free show - tomorrow at 7pm, Tulane quad

I'm sure with it being a free show, the hipsters will be out in full force...but still thinking of checking it out, as a preview of the Tip's show in November.
