Both those Kurt Vile albums are EPs. Big World should have more tracks on it. Great month for live albums

This guy knows.
However, it is an indisputable fact that best album to come out in the past 5 years (and quite possibly ever) is Amon Tobin's "Isam".

Good bands but what have M83 and Neon Indian been doing these past couple years?
Posted on 11/7/13 at 11:24 am to Sublime
Is this a serious question? Both have released (great) albums within the past 2 years..."Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" and "Era Extrana", respectively.

That was 2011 homie.. i asked you what they have been doing since
Posted on 11/7/13 at 11:32 am to Sublime
No, you didn't, homie. You said "the past couple of years". 13-11=2, homie.
I don't keep up with their day-to-day lives though, homie. Perhaps they've been playing shows, or, yunno, living their lives and stuff, homie. Maybe you can explain to me, homie, what that has to do with the topic at hand, anyway?

Jeez man calm down I wasn't trying to insult you I actually enjoy those bands. I was asking a legit questions in what have they done lately because I really don't know. BTW those albums are over 2 years old.. Era extrana came out sept 13 2011 and hurry up, we're dreaming came out october 18, 2011. It has to do with the topic at hand because we are discussing the best music in the past five years. While I enjoy M83 and Neon Indian they haven't really done much in the past couple of years, unless you know something that I don't which is why I asked.
Sorry you were offended by my post I really didn't mean for you to take it the wrong way.

The thread is about the past five years so I was listing artists that have made the biggest leaps since 09. Neon Indian had two great albums. I agree m83 needs to come out with another to make the list.
That's beside the point homeboy. Bobbygeigh needs to be killed slowly while he sleeps. I'm gonna find dat dude and burn him and his family ya eard

No doubt the bands you listed have made leaps. Tame Impala being my favorite. Gary Clark Jr has made some big leaps as well. Bobbyrays taste in music is as terrible as his insults. I think most of us can agree on that.

quote:Eh, sorry then. I took more like "they can't be that good b/c they haven't done anything in 2+ years". When you the two parts of the sentence are conjoined with "but", it sounds like a disqualifier. Silly as that may sound, I've known many people who don't like anything that isn't brand new.

quote:I don't see what the second part has to do with the first, esp. wrt the original topic. I know that Neon has played a few shows here and there, and M83 has done some collaborations and a soundtrack for some movie. Regardless, it's not that common for good bands to release new albums less than two years apart.

Just to reiterate, Tame Impala is fricking awesome.
They're like Panda Bear on acid.

You're right I am splitting hairs. I should have been more specific in my first response.
The span of 5 years is just such a small time frame to judge upcoming artists, since like you stated, most will only have an album or two to judge them by. I don't know what I was really getting at. More than anything I was just curious what they've been doing lately, especially M83. Would love to hear a new album.
quote:Same here so I can definitely now see why you would think that was what I was insinuating. My bad.

quote:No worries. Sorry for comnig over the top. I spent a lot of years in the electronic music scene (late 90s to early 2000s), and that attitude is prevalent is hell in that circuit.

M83's last album was a double, so I can understand if they need a little more time for a new release. But, like I said, they've been doing some work since then.
