The 1990s was the golden age of EDM. Today's EDM does not compare

EDM from the 1990s (then known as trance) was FAR superior to today's EDM.

Quite possibly the best trance song ever created is "Gamemaster".

Just take 6 minutes to listen to "Gamemaster" and focus on the lyrics.

"Gamemaster" worshiped Global Warming before Global Warming was even cool. This song was a classic long before Al Gore devoted his full attention to the Global Warming lie.

Gamemaster

Here are the lyrics of the entire badass song:

quote:

Embracing the goddess energy within yourselves
will bring all of you to a new understanding and value of life.
A vision that inspires you to live and love on planet earth.
Like a priceless jewel
buried in dark layers of soil and stone
Earth radiates her brilliant beauty
into the caverns of space and time.
Perhaps your are aware of those who watch over your home.
And experience it as a place to visit and play with reality.
You are becoming aware of yourself as a game master.

Imagine earth restored to her regal beauty.
Stately trees seem to brush the deep blue sky.
Clouds billow to form majestic peaks.
The songs of birds fill the air
creating symphony upon symphony.
The goddess is calling for
an honoring
of what she allows to be created
from the core-mystery of the blood.
Those who own her planet are learning about love.

I know, but not only is Gamemaster the best EDM song ever released, it also has lyrics.

STS9 in the 90s shits on any and all EDM/house music of today

I know they are different, but it's a shame electronic music went all digital

Other than the Chemical Brothers a lot of my favorite electronic music has come post-2000. Daft Punk, more Chemical Brothers, Infected Mushroom, and countless other acts are doing really good things to this day.

I just listened to 'Discovery' again the other day and was instantly reminded what a revelation and absolute ground breaker it was at the time. It still amazes me they had the balls to put those heavy metal guitar arpeggios in 'Aerodynamic'.

Adventure Club disagrees.

State Palace in the late 90s was classic though.

I wonder if you're thinking what I'm thinking.

The music is as good as its ever been. It's as big as it's ever been so there is a lot of shite music also.
