This looks and sounds fricking bizzare. Very.

Houston Chronicle article

The inaugural Middlelands music and camping festival, located on the Texas Renaissance Festival Fair Grounds, has unveiled an EDM-heavy lineup that includes Major Lazer, Rae Sremmurd, Kaskade, Phantogram, Bassnectar and Crystal Castles.

The Medieval-themed event, set for May 5-7 in Todd Mission, will also feature Galantis, Jurassic 5, Big Gigantic and Houston rapper Fat Tony.

Middlelands is the work of Insomniac and C3 Presents, the creators behind Electric Daisy Carnival, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits Music Festival
. It will include five stages across 60 acres, kingdoms and castles, costumed performers, rides and art.

Festivalgoers will have 10 camping options and be able to band together in color-coded kingdoms for daily events, including tug-o-war, human balloon war, mazes and volleyball.

Partygoers can also apply to Sound Camps, which encourage you to bring your own sound system and live DJs.

Tickets start at $185 for three-day general admission and are on sale now. You must be 18 or older to attend.

Not my cup of tea, but I have to give them credit for trying to do something different. Could be a fun event for EDM fans.

sounds fricking awful.

Fixed it. I often have censorious thoughts about one when I find out they are EDM fans.

Can anyone truly distinguish between Major Lazer, Rae Sremmurd, Kaskade, Phantogram, Bassnectar, Crystal Castles or any of the other EDM DJs when they are onstage? Why not have just 2-3 DJs playing records and relieving each other for potty and meth breaks?

*DISCLAIMER: I love Crystal Castles

Well I have seen bassnectar, phantogram, crystal castles and major lazer live. They all put on a good show, and pantogram / crystal castles actually had instruments.

Bassnectar puts on a helluva show.

Diplo is possibly the biggest douche on the planet.

Anyway, this sounds really fun. I would love to go and look at all the wenches in skimpy outfits. But frick texas. Texas Renfair is the best i have been to but I refuse to give the state any of my tourist dollars.

EDM is definitely not my thing but that is genius. That land just sits there to my knowledge doing nothing for 9 months.

A couple of GOAT drunk nights were spent there. The festival is fun but the after party and camping after is amazing. Hell the people out there are on shite anyway. They lit a huge fire and played drum music all night and danced.

There are a lot of djs that play the same sounding set year to year. But the artist you chose are not them. two are bands. One a rapper, one only plays original music. And kascade and major lasers set will be vastly different.

You don't know phantomgram?
