Just getting back to Louisiana from the festival. We had a great time. Just wanted to share some observations in case anyone would like to know....
Festival: Tix were priced right. The lines to get in the park was some of the easiest we've encountered. Security was very nice and even the bag line moved smoothly. Layout of the festival was mostly ok except there were only Portolets on one side of the grounds.
Food and Drinks: nice selection of food booths. Again, food was only on one side of festival grounds. Beer was all microbrews, 16 oz draft for $7. Full bar also, $8 a mixed drink. The grand tasting was Saturday from 12-3 with 40 breweries. They filled the 4 oz tasting glass to the rim every time! Well worth the ticket price!
Music: 2 main stages, 1 outside and 1 in the ice rink complex. Great lineup. Here's my list of the top performers:
1. Anders Osborne - absolutely killed it! He was a maniac out there. I felt sorry for Benjamin Booker, who had to follow that act
2. The Magpie Salute - solid
3. Samantha Fish - she is bad arse and hot too...
4. Tab Benoit - dude still has it
5. The Record Company - great band but the sound guy let them down
6. Bonnie Raitt - her performance should be ranked higher but she got very political in between songs. We picked up and left.
7. Keb Mo and Taj Mahal - legends
They're were many others to list but I know this post is going too long already! Overall, a great time!
