Out now.

First impression is that its short as hell. Only 27 mins. Its something though. The music is absolutely gorgeous and flawless.

Marty Robbins, Johnny Horton, Roy Rogers, and Tyler Childers is what I hear.

Sam

It’s really good. Amazing how every single one of his albums has a different sound. Love a concept album and this is a solid one.

It’s ok. The music is amazing. Super short and even shorter when you take out the two logues.

The latest Mike and The Moonpies release is a concept as well and is a much better album.

I really enjoyed it, its definitely his version of Red Headed Stranger. Very fitting to gave the Willie solo included. Was hoping he would sing too. Overall it's great for what it is.

Reminds me of a colter wall album.

I like it a lot on first listen. It's a nice blend of bluegrass and country. Juanita is the standout to me.

Maybe it’s just the -ita, Juanita has a similar sound to Anita, You’re Dreaming by Waylon Jennings.

It’s like watching an old Western. Purely a novelty album. It’s good, and I’ll listen a few times but don’t expect any of it to end up in my regular rotation.

I love it. Might be my favorite Sturgill album to date.

Sam isnt a sad song. Its celebrating the dog. Sam died in the previous song, Played Out. Thats where the tears flow. The actual song Sam is a foot tapper.

That Mike and The Moonpies album is very good. I’ll end up listening to it more than this release by Sturgill.

Played Out is a damn fine song though after two listens.

Sturgill will be on XM Outlaw Country’s Steve Earle show Friday at 7 (tonight) to discuss and play the whole album. Show will re-air a couple times over the weekend if you miss it tonight.

It is. I’m not knocking this album it’s fine and there are some good songs and amazing instrumentals but I was expecting more from his 5th (possibly last) album.

That Mike and the Moonpies album is the best country album I’ve heard since Purgatory.

It takes you on a nice little ride and leaves you wanting more.

Agreed, definitely has to be listened to as an entire album
