I heard this for the 1st time in years last night. It immediately took me back to summer of 95. When things were so much simpler. I remember slow dancing to it at the homecoming dance in the cafeteria w/ my gf.

Such a wonderful song. The lyrics are so powerful.

I go a lot farther back than '95 but I always thought that was a pretty good song. It just got overplayed on the radio to the point it became tiresome.

Guilty pleasure. Been known to appear on a shuffled Playlist of mine a time or two.

It's one of those songs that reminds you of your youth and the realization that things have been and will continue to go downhill from here.

Kind of a sad way to put it but I guess that does make sense.

(Pretty good music video, Carter is FINE af in it!) LINK

Back in college if you put this song on with a girl and you still couldn't get any you were probably ugly as hell.

The saddest part of that song is a lot of people think Sam Hunt does a great cover.

He does the absolute shittiest cover you can imagine.

It is one of those songs that instantly takes you back. Every time it comes on my wife and I joke about the pre-kids years in the late 90s. Another severely underrated song she had that was popular was "We Danced Anyway."

I remember when she used to work behind the bar at Toddy's BDT in Knoxville. Super cool girl.

I forgot how immensely popular this song and album was in 1995-1996.

It's a great song that takes me back to the '90s, but one time I caught my mom singing it a little too enthusiastically, and that kind of ruined it.

If I remember correctly, the song was written by Matraca Berg, who turned out a good number of hits for artists in the 90s, including Reba, Patty Loveless and Trisha Yearwood.

Apparently Berg approached Yearwood with Strawberry Wine first, and she passed on recording it. A few years later I saw her in concert and she mentioned how, looking back, she felt like an idiot for not recording it. For the next fifteen or twenty minutes, as she was between songs, she would randomly sing a line or two from Strawberry Wine, before trailing off and commenting "Yep, I was an idiot," or "It's ok, I'm over it now."

The song is badass and I have no shame saying that. Will sing loudly when drunk.
