Certain albums bring me back 20 years in time instantly and I remember what life was like then...this is one of those albums.

Those two saw a lot of shite in a very short amount of time. Combine that with their strict Catholic upbringing, you´ve got lovely chaos.

I just listened to mad season then this and now Ryan Adams Heartbreaker...some outstanding complete albums. Don't make many like these anymore.

What are you on to, TFTC?
They´re jaded, and the tunes are tremendously refrained from an execution and production standpoint. Purposefully so (analyze them, they´re no different than their earlier or later stuff).
They´re still great tunes. These guys were Beatlesque, or like the Pixies. The core or heart was sweet, all they wrote was tidy and catchy, they simply decided to amp up at times.
They jammed full on later again.
