What would it take to be able to do this? The Doors are the official Sugar Land band

Or what about yelling in a song like Jim Morrison? Similar to a song like Gloria

Gotta have a rock and roll scream. You gotta scream in front of people. It's either gonna be awesome or you will sound like an idiot. There is no in between.

I liked them. But, really, it's better not to scrutinize them too closely because they don't necessarily stand up.

Great rock band--the "poetry/drama" efforts are pretty weak though, like the kind of poems you write in high school, then throw away in embarrassment years later when you come across them in a box in the attic.

He died at 27.

I didn't know dick about dick before 27. Plus throw alcohol, pills, and heroin on top?

Had he lived I am sure he would be amused by his ramblings.

Imagine a video of you rambling in a Dennys with your friends, or a Waffle House at 2AM. God the shite I told some people. I'm sure my food was tampered with occasionally.

I like the Doors, they were the first band I ever saw in a real concert. The fact that their art ventures diminished significantly once the weed and acid wore off, doesn't--or shouldn't--detract from the fact that they were a great American rock band. From Soul Kitchen to Crystal Ship, Roadhouse Blues, L,A, Woman and beyond the band wrote and played excellent blues-based rock. Isn't that enough?

Very nice.

They're a definite favorite of mine too.

Many hits. LA Woman is just greatness IMO. And his vocal sounds loaded. I know the music story/legend is that he was.

I just hate how people rag on the poetry part of it. Jim did a lot of spoken word stuff, before that was even a thing. I did my share of rambling while drunk in my 20's. Not poetry and I'm not Morrison.

First of all Jim Morrison was an original. He wasn't modeling his performances on any other front man. So signing like Jim Morrison would require you to be an original copy cat.

Or you could just ask Eddie Vedder.

Me too. The Doors lyrics might seem naive or trite today, but things we take for granted today were unknown to them. Anyone who questions their musicianship and/or showmanship doesn't understand anything about rock n' roll.

Feast of Friends

"Death makes angels of us all and gives us wings where we had shoulders smooth as raven's claws"

Eta: obviously I'm a big doors/Jim Morrison fan, but I don't see how anyone can say he didn't have a very very good rock and roll voice. I just listened to "the changeling" and it's hard to believe how bluesy his voice sounded by age 27.

The Doors were the best American band of all time. "Woke up this morning, and I got myself a beer.

Big Doors and Pearl Jam fan. 27 years old is amazing. Morrison could have been Vedder and more had he lived. The Doors certainly crammed more music into the 5 years they were relevant than PJ in their first 5 years.

Morrison was a train wreck though. Maybe he had said all he had to say? Cool to think though what an old Jim could do or still be doing. Stripped down acoustic sets. Getting on stage with all the greats through 70's, 80's, and 90's.
