Wish I could have seen him perform live

He played a few weeks ago at Lava Cantina in Perkins Rowe, and I had planned to go but missed it.

I always liked STP and Velvet Revolver, but really didn't hear any of his solo work until I downloaded the most recent album over the weekend. It's a nice rock album… won't go down as a classic, but pretty solid.

I'm just shocked it was cocaine and not heroin

Apparently he developed a bad crack addiction as of late. He was a "multiple stints in rehab for heroin" guy, a la Mikey Welsh, Mike Starr (although he was a polysubstance abuser, heroin was his particularly tough demon), Gidget Gein, Layne Staley, etc.

Heroin overdose is the natural progression for a lot of these guys that get hooked early. Heroin killed so many of these rock cats in the 1990s that it seemingly scared them straight - for a while, but these things come in cycles.

But, yeah, I was as surprised as you were that this was cocaine instead of heroin with Weiland's past history with the latter drug.

Played for 45 minutes and was a train wreck. Had problems putting the mic back on the stand and had to be helped off the stage. Sad.
