By playing in Israel, Thom is undermining the Boycott, Divest, Sanction movement. You can say what you want about his music, but Waters' approach to politics is spot on.

Nice troll attempt.

Waters doesn't take the same stance against other countries who in his view have done as bad or worse things. To take a hard line against Israel and not others proves he is full of shite and just wants to stay in the spotlight to bitch about something. I side with Thom and Radiohead. They can do whatever the hell they want and should ignore other entitled assholes who try to get them to do otherwise.

Not a troll, He's 100% correct. Waters doesn't take that stance against other countries because those countries aren't apartheid regimes.

You're probably too young to remember when we boycotted South Africa boy.

this post belongs on the poli board but apartheid is only a thing when the side being "oppressed" hasn't stated that their main goal is to destroy your country/ethnic group through any means necessary.

About what exactly?

So Waters draws the line at "apartheid regimes." Why is this the line? You are aware, I hope, that there are several other countries that also oppress and discriminate against people harshly based on gender, sexual orientation, etc. But oh, that aparthied "line" is the only thing that matters for musicians to boycott a country, right? It's hypocritical and nonsensical to take a stance against human rights in one country and ignore others because they don't fit some made-up set of rules for boycotting a country.

Yeah, and we wouldn't have albums like Graceland if it weren't for some musicians who had the sense to ignore the boycotts.

Does Radiohead play in those countries?

Yeah, and we wouldn't have albums like Graceland if it weren't for some musicians.

Not a fan of Radiohead but have a newfound respect for them.
This is poli-board stuff but Israel has a right to exist and to defend itself against people that want to destroy them.

"RW's mind is twisted" He does not acknowledge and protest the modern slavery going on today in Africa, the killing of Homosexuals in Muslim lands or the rapes and acid attacks going on in his own Europe due to the government forced influx of migrants.

Dude needs a dose of reality.

Waters may be a great songwriter, but he has lost his damned mind. I see why Pink Floyd split up.

Of 1 country, because the line only applies to countries that

quote:

Millions are being kept in open air prisons

Yeah, that's terrible. There are terrible things done by other countries, but Israel must be THE BOYCOTT.

Does Radiohead play in those countries?

Waters has played Israel himself only about 10 years ago, which makes his statements laugahble. He's also played in Russia several times. He plays the U.S. constantly, who he criticizes more than anything else on his last album. He is full of shite or crazy.

The question I have is when bands like Coldplay U2 Pearl Jam Rolling Stones don't play Israel does that mean they are implicitly supporting the boycott?

It's pretty sad when washed up musicians like him try to have opinions and make new songs and whatnot. If I would've known he was gonna do all that at this last show I would've spent my comp going to the buffet 8 times instead
