LB was awful and Commerford is correct. Limp Bisquick and their ilk ruined rock music for several years.

Tha frick you say about Tom Morello?
That man was arguably the most innovative guitar player of the '90s.
Because he pulls the input jack out and touches the bridge with it?
The dude is severely overrated as guitar player. His solo's are insufferable. Technically speaking he's not even a moderately good guitarist.

And it's not even close

Tim is a notorious dick -- says rude stuff all of the time.
Fred was one of the most perplexing things to me and had little talent, but he did understand by 1995ish that rap-metal was going to be huge and that's why Method Man did a video with him. Both parties only trumped their former selves.
ICE-T and Body Count did not make enough splashes. Public Enemy and Anthrax made a huge splash but it was one song and 6 months prior to Grunge and Gangsta Rap getting enormously popular. Aerosmith and Run DMC -- same thing as far as it being ONE song. Whole albums full of rap and rock? Only the Beastie Boys had explored that territory. And heaviness-wise, they were nowhere near RATM.
Hard to believe it's been 23 years since RATM was released. Damn near twenty since Evil Empire. Their sound was fresh for 7-8 years and then I think people had enough and they had enough of themselves. And I really got sick of their political views -- got quite redundant. Leonard Mumia Abu Jamal...there were hundreds just like both of them. RATM complained about capitalism, fascism, government, immigration, Wall Street, racism, police brutality, blah blah blah to the point where if a world existed the way they wanted, we'd have twenty-seven groups of anarchists ruling the world. And did Zack and Tom give all of that money away to everyone? Did they hate having to make and sell Gold records? I wish RATM would have reinvented themselves and not been so politically driven, but damn...
Limp Bizkit was just silly, wanker fun. Fred Durst trying to pick a fight with Scott Stapp sums up both douchers.

I clearly remember an interview with Morello around the time of Woodstock (or some other festival show) where he said something like: No offense, but when Rage go out there, they aren't going out there to be the 2nd best.
Soooo, you understand the value of competition IRL, you just literally advocate for the opposite in every song?

I'd slightly amend to say that I think he has a lot of technical ability. It's just that he chose to do stupid shite instead of actually playing.

It's hard to believe someone actually took the time to write down or type those specific words.
It's hard to believe someone requires all music to be so self-serious that it can't just have fun being what it is. Lyrics aren't the only relevant considerations in a song. For me, they are actually almost irrelevant.

music isn't art and it isn't important...at least not since the 19th century...and I'm not talking about camp town races either
So all of these dudes can go frick themselves...especially the one giving the interview as if he's talented

Rage against the machine is Nickleback level garbage. I'd rather drive nails into my eyeballs than listen to Morello's ridiculously over electronic solos and de la Rocha screaming like a banshee. I was so happy when Chris Cornell got away from that douche bag Morello and back to making good music.

My dogs think he is the greatest guitar player ever. My female greyhound once squirted when he slid up past the 24th fret........

Didn't he climb on top of the stage when Fred Durst was accepting an MTV music award?

“We were up against Limp Bizkit, one of the dumbest bands in the history of music,” explained Commerford. “We’re up against them and their singer made the video. So it was Limp Bizkit vs. Rage, Fred Durst-directed video vs. Michael Moore. And I’m sitting there with Michael and I’m like, ‘Hey man, if that camera doesn’t come over here, I’m climbing up that structure and I’m gonna sit there like a f—ing gargoyle and throw a wrench in this show.’ And he’s like, ‘Tim, follow your heart.’”
