The Dean Dixie Rebel, Dimebag guitar. yeah, they come that way and look amazing in person. Even better on a stage.

I used hydraulics on my old Tama Rockstar set. They are great for durability, but have zero flexibility.

If you're interested in opening the kit up a bit, maybe check out a Remo Coated Ambassador or Coated Powerstroke 3. They'll be plenty durable, and on a set like the Pearls, they'll still be deep and punchy, but with a more rounded sound.

I play Evans g2 clears on my kit, but when I played primarily rock or metal, I moved from the hydraulics to the coated Remo heads and never looked back.

I've never used anything but the remos, had a bad experience with two others so I've stayed safe. I hate buying heads lol

It's a pain for sure, and it is hard to transition from one type to another, as you're usually out $100+ easily to get new ones for a whole set. I feel your pain.

I put an Alnico Pro 2 in the neck, Pearly Gates in the bridge, bone nut, gibson input jack and pegs, pushpull pots on the volume and toner knobs, and i currently have a new bridge on the way.

That Ibanez in the background in the case is in the process of being fixed up. I ordered a HSS set from bareknuckle mother's milk/crawler, a new nut and new pegs, pick guard, and eventually I'm going to get a new bridge with tremolo arm attachment. I love the color, i dont have a pic, but i'll get one tomorrow. Its a sort of blue purple mix.

This is my strap, a bandmate's girlfriend designed it for me, Alex Lifeson has since autographed it, which will allow me to die happy:

Looks like a blonde S 300. I have a mahogany one...fine guitar.

Here's one of my favorites:

What kind of music are you into playing and do you ever take it live?

My pride and joy. 1996 DW Collector's in Santa Fe Turquoise lacquer. Paiste Signature Mellow crashes, early-'70s Paiste 602 ride, Meinl Byzance Medium hats, all DW 5000 hardware (single-braced Gibraltar legs on cymbal stands because they weigh a few pounds less, which helps during load in/load out), DW 9000 kick pedal:

Secondary kit. 2008 DW Collector's in Natural Maple satin finish. This kit was stored in a boat shed for two years before I "rescued" and restored her. The now-discontinued "Ten & Six" snare drum is heavenly:

I have a little garage band with 3 of my close friends. We started by covering alot of RHCP and similar rock sounds. But we really wanted to play our own music. We've since evolved to a sort of rhythmic psychedelic sound that we refer to as heroin music. If you heard it, you'd agree it's the best name for it.

We've worked out and recorded a bunch of stuff that sounds cool, but it's just for us and we don't play gigs or anything, as much as I'd love to do that. I imagine we will one day.

Playing gigs is a good way to destroy any semblance of a normal life and your "3 close friends" will, more than likely, not be so close anymore.

Only do it if the money is good...real good.

I have considered this many times. And I've played the scenario out in my head a bunch. I have a strong feeling who I'd would stay close with, who who would quit, and who i'd possibly lose friendship with.

But, I've been on stage before in multiple different settings and I absolutely love it. I'd jump at the chance for a gig because i love music and performing.

shite. I'd do it for free.

You sound like ex bandmates of mine who couldn't hack it, and who live in a constant turmoil because on one hand they want you to fail, and on the other hand they want you to be successful..because it will then become their claim to any type of fame.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

Yeah. He certainly sounds like a washout. But We dont know what his situation was. Although the "only do it for a shitload of money and no other reason" line was annoying to me.

I love the stage though man. There's nothing like it.

I'd imagine performing my own original music would be an experience unimaginable.
