Poison drummer Rikki Rockett has revealed that he is is battling oral cancer.

The 54-year-old opened up about his diagnosis on SiriusXM’s Eddie Trunk Live (via Blabbermouth.net) on Monday and revealed that he was diagnosed over the summer.

I went through my hair metal phase in the '80's. I wish the guy the best in his attempt to recover.

Love Rikki. He was a good drummer who had the ability to put his ego in check and play within the confines of the material that made him rich and famous. I don't care what anyone says - Poison was awesome and they have many great songs.

And he makes a good partner to Dall. Although Poison's image and music were cartoonish at times, Michaels was a weak front man and Deville was a basket case, the rhythm section was better than solid.

If it makes you feel better, despite all my criticisms I do like some of the songs.

My wife had the same cancer and the same # of radiation treatments. I wouldn't wish that shite on anyone. The radiation burns the inside and outside of the throat and neck and things will never taste the same again.

singing ability, michaels isn't very strong. but he's a very good frontman. he knows how to work the crowd & never slows down on stage.
deville used to be a mess, but he sobered up. he's fun to watch live. he plays his arse off--- they all do.
hope rocket recovers.

I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean. He has a unique voice that did not conform to the "LA sound" of the C-list hair metal bands. He was a great frontman.

He doesn't have strong voice like Geoff Tate, Rob Halford, Tony Harnell, Michael Kiske, John Arch, Ronnie Dio, Steve Perry, Ray Gillen....
But it fit perfectly into what they did. He had personality & could connect with the audience. that's what made him a good frontman.
