Please help me determine selling price for a guitar? (Gibson Les Paul Classic)

Found a PRS that I've GOT to have, so I figured I'd move my baby.
Gibson Les Paul Classic
Parents bought it for me in 2005. Honey burst, stock everything. Two tuning knobs were damaged by some jackass backstage at a gig that I will replace, but other than that, everything is tip top. Almost no fretwear or dings
What should I sell this for? Some on EBay are going for 1600-1800, but I didn't think it'd be that high. What do y'all think?

Yeah, seems high. Street price for a new one is going to be $2300 to $2500. I think, as you described it your starting price could be about $1500 or $1600, but I would take the first $1300 or $1400 that shows up - and that's with you making the knobs right first.
I only gave $1300 for a new American Deluxe Strat of about that vintage, FWIW.

The lower end of that range ($1600-1700) sounds about right to me. I also did a quick look on reverb and that's about what the asking price was for early 2000's Classics. Some were higher but they were not run of the mill Classics (gold arch tops, quilt maple and things like that).

what's the PRS you want?

Id say that's a little optimistic. I'd think 1400-1500 range like Ace said. Nice guitar baw. Im a slut when it comes to guitars as Ive owned a few PRS guitars as well. Very fine instruments.

Are you selling a kidney as well?

does it have the HFS bridge humbucker? people seem to either love it or hate it.

No worries. Is that considered tobacco burst on that PRS? I have a real weakness for tobacco burst guitars. It almost doesn't matter what the rest of the axe looks like, I'm like "Is that tobacco? I got to have that!"

Rule of thumb when selling non-vintage or rare gear is that your high end is always going to max out at 50% street price for an identical new item.
So probably $1200-1300 tops.

And certainly no higher than 60% - I have to admit, guitars and guns hold their value about as well as anything you can move around.
Here's a kicker - going back to 1900 or so, and investing in Grand Pianos would have netted your heirs a better ROI than buying Coca Cola stock, IBM, etc, all at the ground floor - of course someone would have had to store and maintain those pianos and kept them in proper vintage condition, but that's still a wild statistic.

For a more accurate market gauge and for your planning purposes, search completed auctions on eBay versus what others are asking for their guitars in their auctions.
If you search the price guide at Reverb.com, they have a recent selling history that will show how much similar pieces went for in recent months.

You should easily be able to get $1300-$1500, if all that's wrong with it are the knobs.
