Came out at a time wherein who they are could be considered disturbing for the American public, but their musical output cannot be denied.
What do you think about this band?

I saw them open for Stabbing Westward at the Howling Wolf in '99. They were too loud for a 3 piece, relying too much on distortion and feedback. I thought, live, they were very average.

That and One Step Beyond were my go-tos

Great band but I guess I don't know enough about them.
Explain yourself.

Gay. A stylized gay, but gay.
I started out with their Black Market Music album, having heard random tunes of theirs throughout the 90s (the most notable being Nancy Boy and Pure Morning).
Black Market Music is a very solid album:
"Taste In Men"-4:15
"Days before you came"-2:33
"Special K"-3:52
"Spite & malice"-3:38
"Passive aggressive"-5:25
"Black-Eyed"-3:47
"Blue american"-3:31
"Slave to the Wage"-4:06
"Comercial for Levi"-2:20
"Haemoglobin"-3:46
"Narcoleptic"-4:22
"Peeping Tom"-14:10

a friend in need, is a friend indeed, a friend with weed is better.
Pure Morning was their most popular song, and still holds up today.. They have a solid catalog.

Agreed. One of the gayest bands I have ever seen, but still not nearly as gay as most straight bands these days.
The lead singer...he looked like a suicidal hairdresser. He played a loud guitar.

I always kinda figured he was gay, but he wasn't over the top about it. Maybe I'm just retarded but it never occurred to me.

I've always loved Molko's voice. The gay thing was obvious to me the first time I listened to their lyrics (Nancy Boy).
Check out "Bubblegum". I think it's a B-side.
ETA: Nevermind, here are the lyrics:

spit out your bubble gum

Top 10 all time for me. Last album was superb and very much a return to form. Sleeping with Ghosts is my favorite album.
Molko is what I presume is truly bisexual. Dude has a wife and kid but did not hide the fact that over the years in his drug/drunken party days that he would sleep with men or women. The original drummer was straight but the bass player who is probably the most musically gifted is very much gay. Last I heard they are looking for yet another drummer.

The bassist can play, no doubt.
