To compare to Radiohead's innovation and influence is laughable and makes you look pretty stupid. Why don't you just sit this one out, mon?

Jonny Greenwood 9 min solo compilation

For anyone that is a decent musician, alot of this is comical. The guy is out of key in nearly every single segment. Go to 1:47. I mean, what the frick? That's terrible. Like Ive said, Ive had students that could actually play the guitar better than that crap. 2:42-3:14 is another comical example of pure shite. It's just making noise for the sake of making noise, spare me the "artistry" bullshite. 3:58-4:20 is another example of shitty musicianship. He seriously reminds me of those "shreds" videos where someone overdubs random noises over a video.

Thanks for proving the whole point of the thread. You don't get Radiohead, and have a shitty taste in music.

That may be, but in that case, everyone has shitty taste in music. And for the record, will Thom Yorke sing in fricking key for once. Just once. I swear, hell will freeze over when every member of the band actually all plays in key at the same time.

I actually enjoyed what you posted and felt like he was in key the whole time.

Do you know anything about music?

I guess not. Ive played alot of gigs and taught alot of students, but that equates to nothing. Just because you enjoyed something doesnt mean it wasnt crap. It also doesnt mean that he was off key for 90% of his "greatest of" solo compilation.

I feel bad for the kids you taught. No wonder kids these days have such poor understanding of music and music theory.

I mean, what do you want to discuss? Recording techniques? The Harmonic Minor scale? Phrasing? Guitar tones and how theyre achieved and captured in the studio? Layering clean tracks over wet tracks? Getting someone to learn how to sing in harmony? What makes Pink Floyd great? Drum mic placement? When it sounds better to sit on the ride instead of high-hats? Why lead pickups sound better for rhythm work and neck pickups sound better for lead work? Changing tubes in an amp? The convenience of powered tops and powered subs? Best bargain purchases for live micing? Which cables last and which cables crap out? Why a Shure Beta58 is a poor choice for a raspy singer with bad mic technique? What Jimmy Page did to his no.1 Les Paul to give it 12 dif sounds? I do know a little about music, and I know that Radiohead may be the most overrated band of all time.

I'll bite. I understand or "get" why people like RH, I just do not enjoy their music. That doesn't mean I have shitty taste. I'm sure there are plenty of bands that we can agree on. I also do not enjoy The Who, Kiss, Phish, Bruce Springsteen(although he is growing on me), REM, U2, etc.

I am huge fan of Tom Waits and David Bowie along with 100s of other incredible musicians. So my taste is shitty?

My point is that I understand the love for all of the above mentioned, but I do not enjoy them. Can't be a fan of every respected band.

Anyone with a sliver of musical intelligence understands the magnitude of REM.

Phenomenal catalog.

Never said I didn't understand REM. I do not like listening to them. Big difference.

Radiohead are all great musicians.
Anyone saying otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about.
