New Sturgill Simpson song - "Sugar Daddy"

I apologize if this is old news, but I just heard the song "Sugar Daddy" by Sturgill. It is listed as the theme song for the HBO series "Vinyl"

Wow, very different. I like it as well.
My buddy saw him recently and said he completely jammed out and was hard rock. What he was describing was this sound.
When I saw him last summer he was playing straight bluegrass, so it is interesting he's getting into this sound.

I think he just did this song because that's the sound that HBO wanted for Vinyl. I don't think he is changing his sound.

Understood, just going off what my buddy said he played in ATL a few weeks back. Says he rocked out and sounded way different than Metamodern (aka covered "When the Levee Breaks"). This is all secondhand.

I saw him at the Ryman in October and it was unreal. They did when the levee breaks midway through long white line then went back into it.
