New Lorde Album - Melodrama

is one of the best albums so far this year. Seriously.
I thought her first album was OK. Had really good singles, but couldn't get into the rest of it all that much. With this one, I didn't care for the singles. I listened to the album in its entirety 3 times now. The singles sound way better with a full album listen. This album is much more cohesive and mature than her first. I really like it.
Anyone else listened to this yet?

Not generally a fan of pop music give how much of it is Top 40 bullshite, but Lorde is a breath of fresh air.

Most people who bash Lorde didn't listen to her first album. It's pop, but it's kinda dark and unique.

Given it a few listens and it's real good, but I still prefer her debut. All of the songs are really good and cohesive on melodrama, but there aren't any phenomenal songs that jump out at me like she had on pure heroin.

I would say the debut is much better after one listen.

Melodrama has an 89 on metacritic, while the debut has a 79

Just finished giving it a listen. Didn't listen to her first album and only knew her singles. Kept seeing tweets about how good it was, so I became curious.

First album had the craziest beats, whoever made them was a genius. Her new single green light sounds like some very typical mainstream pop music, like when Coldplay made some edm
