This plus I would add Mississippi Fred McDowell as well as RL Burnside.

Also, there are a ton of people in this thread who apperently do not know what Blues music is at all.

Awesome album....with Eric Clapton as a session player

Some of the best Live albums ever:

Few others:

Anything by Luther Allison

Also as others have mentioned, any Junior Kimbrough and RL Burnside. I had the pleasure to meet both of them...RL was great and always friendly. ONly time I got to meet Junior, Matthew the owner of Fat Possum sent me and a buddy to Juniors Juke to meet him. We walked into the place in the middle of the day, and Junior and about 2 other guys and some women were sitting by the jukebox drinking. It was the LOUDEST jukebox I've ever heard! I had to wait for it to stop between songs to talk to him. It was interesting to say the least.

He is technically right, a whole lot of blues inspired and blues fusion music. I don't think the OP cares, but classic Blues music is a pretty well defined.

Can't say that I agree with you on one point.
He is not technically right. If the OP has said he was looking for some traditional blues, he would have been absolutely correct. That's not on the table. I do agree that traditional/classic blues is well defined; just as Texas Blues and Memphis Blues and Piedmont Blues and Jump Blues and Chicago Blues and Delta Blues are well defined.

No blues collection is complete without Robert Johnson.

I'm not here to argue language with you. There are some people in her posting shite that isn't really any of the blues genres you posted. I don't think the OP cared as I said.

Btw you contradicted yourself.

Said you couldn't agree on one point and then agreed with something. Unless you were trying to say there was a single point you couldn't agree with and I misunderstood.

But it doesn't matter.

Saw Kenny Wayne Saturday night, was surprisingly disappointed. I've seen him a few times and wanted him too kick my arse as usual but he just gave me hard shove.
As for iPod blues, good god there are so many talented and unique musicians. Go to you tube and type blues in your music search and segue thru old, new, hard, soft young, old, black, white etc....... You will come across stuff you like that will lead you to other stuff and then even to more stuff and on and on. But for me it's Govt. Mule, Warren Haynes is the man.
