I don't consider DMB a jam band because the jam band scene doesn't accept them as such. So you would be correct, they are a band that jams.

frick man, I don't have an issue with you but i've been playing music for 18 years now. I know what i'm talking about
funny side note: my guitarist in one of my bands used to be a huge jam band fan. panic, phish, gov't mule and the like. one of the best guitarists i've ever heard.

A lot of really good guitarists naturally gravitate to jam bands. Its a scene that wholeheartedly embraces their talents and ecourages them to use them. Why wouldn't they?

there's a local jam band in baton rouge... stagecoach bandits
pretty awesome band... definitely a rock band, but follows the jam band formula

WSP HATES the term jam band. They prefer to be called a rock n roll band. Are you trying to tell me that they aren't a jam band now?
Just because they are accepted by the jamband "scene" does not make them a jamband. There are lots of bands out there that fall into that category that are absolutely not jambands.
Panic has always been part of that "scene" though.
