Blink 182

I know they aren't great musicians (sans studio Travis) and I know some of their stuff took maybe 10 minutes to write and could be learned in 1 minute, I just enjoy their shite.

Y'all got some bands that you rock out to that your fellow musician friends are like "lol wtf"

A couple of my friends make fun of me for liking Jamiroquai, but I just pity them for missing out.

If 3EB a guilty pleasure, then they're mine as well. I think they're pretty decent musicians.

I'm going to say The Tubes. They were OK musically but were mostly about the stage spectacle (including X-rated performances early on). For some reason I always liked their cheesy approach.

Most people like to hate on them for the doo doo doo stuff, not really listening to anything else.

...do not go together. 3EB has a catalogue of very mature songwriting - melodically complex and thoughtful with great supporting instrumentation.

I reject the premise of the thread, in fact. I like what I like and DGAF what "other musicians" say. Many "other musicians" wish like hell they could write JUST ONE hit song that only "took 10 minutes to write and could be learned in 1 minute". Come to think of it, that description probably applies to Yesterday.

I'm totally with you. A lot of people just judge them on their nostalgic value and just remember the semi charm life cheesy intro stuff.

Again, for probably their most pure pop song, it's way more dense and complex than the average pop song.

Well I'm a jazz pianist. Everyone I generally play with are kind of picky about what they listen to and stuff we play is typically complex stuff so I guess its kind of surprising for 3eb to be my favorite band.

Yeah, I'm more likely to laugh at you for all the pretentious jazz bullshite.

Seriously, I'm not sure it's fair to classify that as "more complex". It might be technically harder, but many of those guys couldn't write a fun song to save their lives.

That's not a guilty pleasure, and your friends are stupid.
