Screamin Cheetah Wheelies. Pulled their first album out last year after not hearing it for at least a decade and was blown away. In the regular rotation now.

I searched but didn't see this topic, but for me its gotta be Blind Melon. Most people call them a "one hit wonder" but I'm just not seeing it. Most of their music is really really good and personally i think No Rain is one of the worst songs they have.

Blind Melon is one of my top 5 of all time, but this distinction goes to Hum.

Late 80s early 90s definitely Pixies. Major influence on Nirvana and other bands at that time. Also liked Sponge who often got lost in the mix with the other grunge bands.

Who underrates the Pixies? Honestly. Aren't they pretty much revered as the parents of the alt-rock boom of the 1990s? It seems to me the Pixies are rated just about right.

On this board, Nirvana is underrated, as everyone seems to feel the need to diminish them. This is also the only corner of the internet where Blind Melon is overrated, which is actually kind of cool.

Aerosmith.

They were the only ones who survived Grunge. Nine Lives is an extremely underrated album. Although they got a little crazy with the ballads.

Aerosmith has a fascinating career. They had perhaps the worst timing of any successful band in rock history. They labored in early obscurity, making their bones, only to have their first hit record in 1975... just two years before punk rock's Year Zero. All of a sudden, they found themselves part of the Establishment, and they had just gotten there.

They sort of, kind of, not really broke up and faded into the past, only to have a big comeback in 1986, topped of by a huge record in 1989 (Pump). A year or two later, again, the second punk revolution occurs and once again Aerosmith is the "Establishment" after just getting back there.

They really are survivors. Though their 1990s output is pretty terrible.

To a degree I agree they are rated where they should be by some. I think they get overlooked as simply a band that heavily influenced Nirvana and Kurt Cobain. Dolittle and Surfer Rosa are both mastepieces, yet sometimes a I feel they're just viewed as a spring board for Nirvana and the grunge movement rather than being a appreciated for their own music.

Eh, I liked Get A Grip a lot. Unfortunately it is most well known for it's ballads. By the time 9 Lives came out, no radio stations were playing traditional rock music anymore. It was either grunge or new alt pop crap.

I'd say there 2000's is pretty terrible. Their second go round definitely peaked with Pump though. That album is just ridiculous.

I actually kinda like Honkin on Bobo. I think it's their best album since Pump. But I really don't hold a poor late period against a band. It's actually fairly rare for a band to be churning out good music in their third decade. It happens, but I don't get mad if a band can't pull off that rather tough trick.

If you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go listen to Toys in the Attic.
