Disagree on Springsteen though I didn't much care for him after Nebraska. But early Springsteen was very good.

Gonna get a lot of flak for this but Michael Jackson, with how much I love the guy. Seriously, the guy's two gimmicks were highly technical dancing and instantly recognizable singing voice. Other than that, his lyricism was rudimentary at best, he always had a producer or co-producer on his albums and released only 6 true "solo" albums during his lifetime which spanned 22 years. Also, he couldn't play an instrument proficiently. MJ may have been a genius in the music BUSINESS but not in music itself. Body of work truly didn't justify the acclaim imo.
