I haven't seen y'all talking about this new Lyrics Born album, which I'm really enjoying. To be honest, I hadn't even heard of him until I saw Galactic tweet about the album yesterday. Check it out:

The album, which came out this week, features Trombone Shorty, Galactic, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Ivan Neville and others.

quote:

While the Bay Area rap scene has a long past that’s intertwined with Southern music and culture, Lyrics Born is breaking new ground with “Real People.”

For his eighth studio album, the Berkeley-reared rapper and producer (born Tom Shimura) took up brief residence in a cottage in the Uptown neighborhood of New Orleans. He wrote lyrics daily over large quantities of cafe au lait and handed over production duties to Ben Ellman and Robert Mercurio of New Orleans funk band Galactic.

their early stuff was dope. Haven't listened to much of the newer, though I see LB in the ay area perform a decent amount. he is always supporting the local music scene
