Country Weather - "Yes That's Right" (1971)

I would like to know myself. I heard he’s been battling throat cancer.

Mason Proffit - "Two Hangmen" (1969)

I first heard that song on Beaker Street with Clyde Clifford, KAAY Little Rock. Haven't heard it in 50 years. Great find, thanks.

I saw him last year and being that he is my all time favorite it was sad and hard to watch/listen too. He tried but had has lost so much of his voice and energy. Django was with him and sang lead on most of his songs. Hopefully, he will continue and get healthier.

For everyone who might care about this (both of you)

The original released version of "Christine's Tune" (aka "Devil in Disguise") the Flying Burrito Bros was speeded up

Here is the track at proper speed

Lagniappe: Here are the Burritos on TV lip-syncing to the speeded up version

From the 50% of that equation, this empirical documentation is as critical as the ice cube they rammed up an orifice to try to revive him- Extremely critical!

Dan Modlin & Dave Scott - "Jack McCall" (1976)
quote:

Folk-rock, laid-back '70s rock, slightly psych, slightly country-rock. Not too easy to define, but a great album with good songwriting and such a good production that makes you think this was a big name rather than an unknown band

Terry and John Michael Talbot of Mason Proffit subsequent musical paths. Memories fade, but they opened for either The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band or Poco at The Warehouse in NOLA. Pretty sure it was Poco but I could be mistaken. They were very good though in any event. This was my favorite of theirs.

John Phillips "Mississippi" (1970)

This was Papa John's only solo single to make the pop top 40 (#39)

Jody & Bobbie - "Requiem for Love" (1966)

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I think it qualifies as early country rock.

Jody is Jody Reynolds, who in 1958 made the pop top 5 with the death classic "Endless Sleep". Bobbie is no less a personage than Bobbie Gentry, making her first record -- the next year she would hit #1 with the iconic "Ode To Billy Joe".

Bobbie Gentry was also pretty hot

One I stumbled on and really enjoy. Gram Parsons and the Flying Burritos doing the Everly Brothers - a capella. Either 1967 or 1969, may be a home recording. A bit rough but really fun.
