Since he hasn’t been mentioned yet: First call Nashville Cat session player Grady Martin.

George Benson, and not a lot of people know how good he is.

I guess everyone’s music choices are limited. They haven’t listened to Duane Allman and Dickey Betts.

I’m no expert but shouldn’t Prince get a mention?

Yngwie - look up his stuff on YouTube when he was a teenager in '80 or '81. He was so far ahead of Randy Rhoads and everyone else it's not even funny.

Roy Clark deserves to be on every "greatest guitarists" list.

He is also highly regarded as a violinist and a banjo player.

Here is a cool video I have seen before. I am not capable of creating music at all but I find people who do talking about people who play proficiently and how they do it fascinating.

Yotube - Wings of Pegasus: British guitarist analyses Roy Clark master of the guitar, banjo AND fiddle!

ETA: This really showcases his guitar playing

Same guy talking about this performance - Roy Clark - Malaguena (The Odd Couple)

George Benson was a great call.

I'll throw out a couple names that have not been mentioned.

Johnny Lang and Billy Strings.

He was fantastic.

I once saw a concert with three Jazz guitarists. They were phenomenal. Each with fairly different style and it highlights how hard it is to pick a "greatest Guitarist ever" because it is so subjective.

Al Di Meola - Chasin' The Voodoo

Paco de Lucia por Granainas (rare footage) guitar solo

John McLaughlin – El Hombre Que Sabia

Based on their ages in the video I think this may have been around the time I saw them. PACO DE LUCIA , John McLaughlin , AL DI MEOLA

Everyone on your list is worthy, especially, for me, Beck.

You might also consider Carlos Santana since we’re talking about popular music. We also have to mention Chet Atkins.

Good one. I also don't think people fully understand just how good Jerry Reed was. I think the country/bluegrass guys are criminally underrated.

Didn’t see Tony Rice, he deserves a vote in my opinion.

Came here to say this. I found it odd he wasn't mentioned real early in the thread.
