What's yalls opinion on this? I'm guessing posters here will eat this shite up, but I'm pretty confident this will flop.
He should've ran to Drake for a little stimulus like on Poetic Justice.

That has a pretty terrible beat. The songs with a lot simpler of a beat always sound so much better. It just sounds like the producer (whoever he is) is trying to put too much into a beat. I turned it off after about a minute. That says nothing about Kendrick's lyrical content, which is above and beyond the majority of mainstream rappers right now.

Good he should be. It may not be filled with catchy songs for Reggie's but it will certainly deliver for anyone who enjoys hip hop. I'll be really disappointed if he starts targeting a similar, teenage girl demographic that Drake goes after.

I love this single. It's a sweet, catchy beat with solid rhymes on top.
I didn't really like m.A.A.d city all that much, and my personal gripe was the beats weren't what I like.
This track, on the other hand, gives me great hope for the full album being more my speed.
It's been up for 10 hours and has 1.5 million views.

OK- I just listened to it.
The beat was pretty good. Of course none of you n00bs knew that this beat was used 25 years ago

Just because it is old doesn't make it good

They stole the sickest beat off of B Boy Bouillbaisse and it still is painfully fricking awful

Those darn Isley Brothers still beat 'em to the punch though!
The Isley Brothers - Who's That Lady
For real though, I think that's why it works for both this Kendrick and Bestie Boys -- it's a song that's spanned generations because it's extremely catchy.
I mean, my favorite Kanye tracks are the ones with soulful, funky and R&B-esque beats. I'm not loving the current EDM/dubstep style of beats, and the harder/heavier West Coast style isn't my personal favorite, which felt like a lot of that last Kendrick album to me. I think I like those beats in part because I love horns -- give me a good brass band with a rapper any day.
So, just to give a bit more perspective on the kind of beats I do really like, here's five random songs:
JR&PH7 - Persuasion feat. Olivier Day Soul and Sean Price
Kanye West - Slow Jamz (Feat. Twista & Jamie Foxx)
JAY-Z - Roc Boys (And The Winner Is) (I do really like The Menahan Street Band beyond this song)
Galactic - From the corner to the block featuring Juvenile and The Soul Rebels Brass Band
Brother Ali - Only Life I Know
And if I knew how to make beats, I'd be pulling some funky Dead, Brenton Wood, and all that other good stuff from before I was born to sample. But, I'm just a MB poster yelling at the clouds.
...Now I need to decided if I should saddle up and go see Lil Dicky at Stubb's tonight...
