Loved, loved, loved his drumming and his antics are the stuff of legend.

I just read this on his Wikipedia page and lol'd (after subheadings on exploding toilets, etc).

quote:

In a limousine on the way to the airport Moon insisted they return to their hotel, saying "I forgot something." At the hotel he ran back to his room, grabbed the television and threw it out the window into the swimming pool below. He then jumped back into the limo, saying "I nearly forgot."

I can't imagine hearing "Won't Get Fooled Again" without Keith's insanity driving it.

Obviously this is way way way before my time, but Keith Moon was a terrific drummer for a terrific band, one of my favorites of all time. It's crazy it's been almost 40 years since his death. He was a special talent who died too early.

Won't Get Fooled Again from the doc 'The Kids Are Alright' was the first time I ever saw them on TV. Those lasers, the lights under Moon's kit, and Pete running and sliding on his knees - such an impression and soooo bad arse.

Crazy to think they were close to canning the Loon too

When he was on his game, Moon was an unstoppable force. But whenever I watch the awesome The Kids Are Alright movie, it's sad to see him gradually circle the drain over the years. The movie's most recent footage was cool mainly b/c of Pete's energy, but man, Moon was barely competent by then, if that.... if he'd lived & cleaned up, I'm still not convinced he would've gotten his chops back. Hell of a short ride, though...

Before he got old.

Moon was awesome. He and Entwistle were incredible together. At their peak The Who were nearly a perfect rock band.

One of my heroes!

I was always torn as to whether to pattern my life after Keith or Hunter S Thompson.....whether to tear up the hotel room in an alcohol induced frenzy or to refuse to let the swine sandbag a doctor of Journalism.
