Gotta say Journey rocked it out a whole lot better than I thought they would. When they were in their classics, the place was rocking.

But that said, Schon needs to go join Megadeath or something for a year and get that speed crap out of his system. When his solos have feel, they are some of the best. The speed stuff taking over so much sounds canned an out of character for them.

First time I heard Castronovo and he was good.

Pineda gave this band 25 more years of life.

Didn't make the concert tonight unfortunately. Have seen Journey many times over the years. Dean Castronovo is an awesome vocalist who sings lead in a new power trio called Revolution Saints and they have a new cd out if anyone is interested.

I agree.

I also thought Steve Miller was great for being 71.

The numerous guitar solos by Schon was to me tiring. The piano solo by Cain though was very good, but made me realize a few songs they weren't going to play like, When a man loves a woman and Send her my Love.
I also can't believe they didn't play Who's crying now.
Pineda is a fireball and a real showmen. He indeed will carry Journey as long as they want to rock.
I wasn't aware that Steve Miller was that old, or that they had that many songs I knew. His voice is still strong and the band was very good.
Overall, it was a very good show.

Ya - didn't know he was 71. That's awesome.

The lightshow messed with the focus, but here's Jet Airliner from my phone....

Sounds really good.

Interesting about Steve Miller -- I don't think he'd ever played New Orleans prior to Katrina. And I think he's been here three times since.

What really shocked me was the crowd. That place was packed from floor to ceiling and all the way to the side of the stage. Even every suite was filled from what I could tell. There must have been14k in the house.

Me too. Many eighties bands are lucky to be playing casinos and Journey is still selling out stadiums with a backup singer.

Saw them a few days after N.O. in West Palm Beach. Great show. The new lead singer sure has some energy.
