Now that I'm old, retired, and all the kids are out of the house and starting their own lives, this old dude is looking for some chilled out tunes to have a glass of red wine and maybe a toke.

I've heard a couple of John Scofield songs on Pandora that I've really enjoyed. Can anyone direct and guide me through his must-hear songs and albums. Also, please feel free to suggest some newer (I've got the classic jazz down) music similar to a relaxed jazz vibe.

Thanks music board

A Go Go is an essential Scofield album IMO.

He just came out with a new album covering classic country tunes. It is nice.

I would start with Up All Night. Incredible album that is a good mix of his sounds.

Uberjam if you want a more psychedelic funk jazz feel.

All of his albums with MMW are great, but the first one(A Go Go) is one of my favorite albums ever. Out Louder, and Juice are the other ones, and are both really good too.

He has a ton of albums, and he likes to play or pay tribute to wide range of genres. His latest is a bunch of old country song covers, and it is delightful.

If you like Gov't Mule, his collaboration with them, Sco-Mule, is really good.

Medeski, Martin and Wood are my favorite Jazz group, saw them in HS and they blew me away. I know they've done a couple things with Scofield as well.
