First weekend for us. We get in town on Friday morning.

Saturday a good buddy of mine is playing in the jazz tent and I am acting as his road manager. He hooked us up with backstage and parking passes for Saturday and Sunday.

Apparently they have free beer and clean bathrooms backstage. This is my 20th jazzfest and the first time I have ever been offered that kind of plushness.

I am definitely going to Herbie's sunrise set at Congo Square. Dianne Reeves will be with him. I am psyched to start my day with that combo.

Great First Day. Givers and Steel Pulse were the highlight for me today. Going to take a power nap then catch Robert Randolph

I'm on my way out in a few. Warm up with Gal Holiday (Vanessa is a cool chick) and then move on.

Cee Lo Green doing crazy was great. Very crowded at Tom Petty. Can only imagine what Springsteen will be like

Petty was great. Caught some of Cee Lo, Jon Cleary, Feist and Wolfman Washington.

Great interviews with Chuck Leavell and Bobby Rush

Jon Cleary was jammin.. The Wetland Allstars were great. Real funky.

Tom Petty was so overcrowded. Impossible to move around if you had to leave home base for anything...but put on a great show.

Still... A great day of music. I'll be back out there tomorow for Trombone Shorty, Dr. John, Gary Clark Jr., and the Boss.

The weather was great today also. Nice breeze blowing.

Bruce Springsteen reaffirmed why he is the Boss. From the hard driving Badlands to Tenth Ave Freezeout along with the spiritual reaffirming rendition of When the Saints come Marching in he showed why he is one of the truely great performers of my generation
