Back in this cigarette may be Aldean's best song.

You're right. It just gets old how this board loves anyone until they get big.

That's ridiculously false.

Black keys, foo fighters, jack white and the Alabama shakes.

Know what those bands have in common?

All are either insanely big or on the fast track to stardom and all of them are pretty much universally praised on this board.

Know why we all love American Aquarium, turnpike troubadours, lucero, Corey branan etc? Because it is honest refreshing music that isn't scared to take a chance and do something new.

They're everything good music should be while radio country or Nashville Pop is everything wrong with music today. Great music isn't made solely to sell records it's made to express and to incite emotion. At the end of the day music is still Art and the worst art is "safe" art.

Those bands would "sell out" just as fast as any other band if the opportunity was there. Money talks.

Not saying those bands aren't good by any means. Just stating an opinion.

Truth. There is good pop music, there is bad pop music. Good obscure stuff, bad obscure stuff. Depends on personal taste. I don't generally give a rats arse about something being "fresh" or cutting edge. If I dig it, I dig it.

I probably haven't heard three or four Aldean songs, and really only think one is appealing to me, just not my type of stuff...but what I have heard is no worse than some of the stuff touted on this board.

This pattern has been repeated since I started listening to music in the 70's and will never change. Some people think they have the key to what's acceptable and will make fun of anything that doesn't meet their desired taste. I remember these types being upset the Stones sold out.

But that opportunity won't be there because they aren't marketable at least not for the current Nashville scene. Really the only band in that group that really has a shot and If they were to break through it would be with the same demographic as Mumford and sons, Edwarde Sharpe and such it would be the roots music scene.

There is a fricking difference between art with emotion and soul put into it and this garbage that is directly marketed towards a certain demographic.

It's soulless, corporate pop music that wants your fat arse dirty dollar.

Lucero, Cory Branan, and American aquarium have all written infinitely better songs than anything that is played on modern country radio.

I can agree with this. Especially your first sentence. That part is extremely true.

Oh look it's king of the dipshits who thinks he knows anything about music

Just because something is popular doesn't make it bad

That's not why I don't listen to garbage like Andean or Luke Bryan or whatever generic Nashville pop rap rock upcoming "star "

Not to the person who likes it.

You seem to think your view of what is acceptable is the only thing that matters.

And this man speaks the truth.

The sad part is that once upon a time the great songwriters thrived in Nashville unfortunately those days are long gone
