I don't know about mostly bit Tool kicked arse last night and I'm on the way to catch Band if Horses right now. Ticket was totally worth it just for those two.

Was there last night. The demographics certainly fit a setting similar to Bonnaroo.

But my oh my were there some fine-lookin' hoes partying it up in their Halloween lingerie.

Voodoo is a business first and foremost, so they can't deny the popularity of electronic music. But there is only one stage out of four that play it.

Didn't get that vibe. Tool, Arcade Fire, Band of Horses, Ghost, Reinwolf, Puscifer, and STS9 were all great.

Did not know who The Weekend or Chainsmokers were until I heard them live. Not my cup of tea, so I found other stuff to watch. There's something for just about everyone at VOODOO.

This board bashes it for some reason but it's one of the better run mainstream festivals.

I get the feeling it is turning into an EDM fest now. STS9 was my favorite show by far. Tool just started off wayy too slow for me and didn't pick up for a while. I had to go listen to Die Antwood, which was the worst show all weekend. My favorite part about The Weekend was that triangle light in the middle of the stage.

They can pack a lot of Djs in on that stage with 10 min breaks. The other stages have to alternate sets because of proximity.

Voodoo is the same as it has always been, just musical preferences have changed.

I thought the layout, cashless system, and urinals, cemetery were great.

Urinals definitely were one of the best parts of the festival.

Agreed. It had been a while since I went to Voodoo, but I thought the organization and overall layout was good. EDM artists are nothing new for Voodoo though, pretty sure they get DJ sets for the evenings every year.

The lineup was EDM heavy and not particularly good for a national festival ---- but they took big strides in logistics and overall experience outside the music this year.

years past they had much larger issues with the layout and sound bleed. they actually filled in most of the holes, and i didnt see 9000 ant hills this year. the entry gates were generally staffed properly. and i wasnt trying to hang out at their haunted house thing but its a halloween weekend festival in new orleans and it seems right to have stuff like the cemetary set up (if not more of that in the future).

the lineup didnt get me that excited but im hoping to see the new management company continue to improve things.

Seems like they're on the right track. It's always baffled me as to why Voodoo can't be a premier music festival on a national level, I mean it's New Orleans on Halloween weekend and the weather is normally great - why would any big name artists not want to play that??

They don't have a problem getting big name headliners. The problem has always been the rest of the lineup.

Urnials

One of the coolest things over there. Not even lying. Jazz fest needs to take some lessons and get urinals like that.

That's more of what I meant. They get two or three good headliners and everything else is meh. Never good enough that I want to shell out the money for a 3 day pass. This year was better than most I can remember, IMO, but still a lot of room for improvement.

not sure why you went to see them then? If you liked Die Antwoord you shouldn've enjoyed the show. I like both tool and die antwoord personally and enjoyed half of each of their sets.

Voodoo may have a lacking lineup, but it is one third of the price of ACL and really any other big festival you are comparing it to . The one thing I worry about with new ownership, and management is the price going up. If I get earlybird tickets it's about $30 a day. So I can justify that for just one artist.

Some of this is on purpose. You can't get wall to wall headliners and huge national acts. If you do, it turns into JazzFest: miserable and overcrowded.
