Is the Gillis Silo still a band?

Those guys were everywhere on social media last year. Always something about them it seemed like. Were doing radio interviews and shows.
Haven't seen or heard anything from those guys in months.
Anyone friends with them? What's the deal?

Not a band anymore.

Caleb uses the Gillis Silo name I believe but the group had a falling out with each other from what I heard.

What was the falling out? I'm going out on a limb and pointing at 2 things that I'm betting on:
1. Caleb having all the spotlight
2. They were all in rock bands previously and got tired of the country schtick.

Caleb plays solo at the golden nugget all the time now.

It's just crazy that when they formed, the amount of splash they made locally. Granted, I never thought they were that good and always thought it was obvious they were riding the country genre to make it.
Now they are jsut gone. Vanished. There's got to be more to what happened.
If a country band really wants to make it, they need harmonies. GS had none. Also, the bro guitar player with the backward hat needed a makeover.

Caleb hates bro country, but that's all he covers at the Golden Nugget. He has a lot of potential to be good with the right person behind him. He should hit the texas dance hall circuit with his original music.

I agree he's good. And yes, they are the epitome of bro country.
He wouldn't fit in Texas at all. He's better suited for Nashville, just because of the kind of country he does.
He really needs to find a solid group of guys who can play AND sing and start over but keep the name. It'd be awesome if he had a fiddle and pedal steel incorporated into the actual band and not just on recordings.

Good point . You are correct

Rest of the band didn't want to take the next step.
Band fund, touring, actual label deal etc.

Form what I heard it leans more to #1 but it was deeper than that. There were accusations of some not having the desire to take the next step.

The next step? They wanted to continue playing Raxx and the Texas Club? As far as a record deal, I don't think that was coming anytime soon. There's hundreds of bands just like them scattered all over Nashville.
Also, is that Casey guy still involved with them? Was he their manager?

Also, wasn't there a dude who was with them originally who played keyboard? What happened to that guy? Their two album covers have different numbers of members.

If he were open to this, he should join up with my band. We've got the players for sure, at least the guitarists. Our lead guy plays a mean slide and has been thinking about getting a lap-steel. No fiddle, though.

Who do you play with?
Bayou Bullets We're more rock than Gillis, but we can play just about anything. Plus, we did NashNext last fall and Cajun Nation Fest with CJ Solar and Little Texas. We're not bro country, but those folks seem to like us as do the metalheads that we play with like Ventress.

Nice!
I just think the Gillis Silo lack a lot of substance as a band. Not a whole lot of dynamics in the music. Caleb is a good enough singer but the band as a whole just lacks "it".
Will say again, there's no excuse for a country band to not have harmonies. No reason their sock loving bassist couldn't hit a harmony line.

Our guitar player doesn't sing and our bassist is too shy unless he's belting out Leonard Cohen songs at karaoke
We originally had 2 singers, but one ended up having to move out of state for his job. We have been considering bringing in another singer whi can also play guitar just so we can be more flexible. It would allow our lead singer to sometimes play horn or keys or just sing without worrying about the rhythm parts.

Caleb screwed them over and went off solo. Told them he was going solo as they were about to go on stage. Then cancelled all of their gigs for the rest of the year behind everyone's back. He's a POS
