My top 3 decades would be the 70's, 80's, and 20's. Love the jazz from the Harlem Renaissance era.

This was really just a superficial list of popular acts attributed to those genres. Any list of 90s metal without Sepultura is bunk.

As far as the 90s are concerned...
Opeth had My Arms, Your Hearse in '98 and Still Life in '99. Morningrise and Orchid weren't nearly up to par.
Meshuggah really wasn't that great in the 90s, Destroy Erase Improve was okay.
Strapping Young Lad has had one good album and it just so happened to be in the 90s, City. Everything else they have done is very mediocre.
I could list many more as well those were just off the top of my head at the time.

Nah man, even though the 90's were my formative years, I gotta go with the 80's! As cheesy and lame as some of 80's music may have been, there was a LOT of awesome tunes and no other decade was as unique as the 80's! I personally like synthesizers, and I just like the aura of an 80's song, it's a whole different world than today's music, which is fine with me, because apart from a few songs here and there, the majority of the "Top 40" songs of today are crappola in my opinion!!

Also, the 80's was a much more friendly decade than the 90's, as cheesy as it may have seemed, the music on a wide-scale level was uplifting as opposed to the moody grunge era of the 90's.

Always felt much of the 80's stuff was fluffy party music. I felt the "grunge" era was a breath of fresh air at first.

I can definitely see your point there, as grunge was definitely something completely different than what people had grown accustomed to. I do like some grunge, Alice in Chains in particular.

I liked GnR because they had a darker, more gritty vibe than any of the hair bands.
