If we're going to throw 80's hair metal singers (Bach), then I'll go ahead and nominate Richie Kotzen. Guy can do everything at an elite level. Soul, ballads, blues rock, more range than nearly anyone, and has an overall silky smooth voice. When you factor in how great of a guitar player, bassist and drummer he is, plus his strong songwriting ability, he may be the most talent musician on Earth.

Rogers´s voice is superior to that of Plant.

Obviously, I don't agree with this.
I will say that I was extremely impressed with him in Queen. I didn't think he could pull it off...I was wrong.

Him fronting Queen was so good, I almost felt guilty for liking it. It just worked.

There are a number of potential nominees, including Rogers. I would also submit Steve Perry, Freddie Mercury, Bob Seger, Ronnie James Dio (judge him on his Elf and Rainbow efforts), and David Coverdale.

When I think of rock singers, none of these (other than Rogers) do I even give any respect to...

Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger are 4 white guys who were in a league Paul Rodgers never came close to joining. If you want to include black singers like San Cooke, Jackie Wilson, James Brown, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Michael Jackson, then Paul Rodgers hardly deserve mention despite having a great voice.

Based on the style of music I like, I'd want Steve Marriott as my lead vocalist.

Waters is right up there with Bob Dylan, Joe Walsh and Lou Reed.

Rogers has a beautiful smooth voice, but greatest RnR singer of all time? I think not.

Freddie mercury
greg lake
Tate
Dickinson
Dio
Gillan
Gilmour
ect................ All of whom I much prefer over Paulie.

good call on Marriott as well. That guy had some pipes!!

If you are looking for a voice that sounds classically trained, he's not your huckleberry. If you are looking for a powerful voice which is unique and very much rock and roll, I would put him up there with anyone.

Now, go frick yourself.

Nothing to argue with on "most" names you all have given. I would just like to throw in Lou Gramm. Whether you are a Foreigner fan or not, outstanding voice.

You do know Gilmour was/is the voice of Pink Floyd right?

No one can knock Waters's lyrical talent and ability to arrange music. But as far as a singer? Get the frick out.

The Firm has to be the greatest supergroup of the era. I don't understand how they weren't one of the biggest rock acts of all time. "Radioactive" is still one of the top 10 greatest rock songs ever IMO.
