It's a great album, but too many important albums came out in the 90s to say it's the greatest. It's Radiohead's 1st or 2nd best album, for sure.

Division Bell, The Chronic, August and Everything After, Enter The Wu-Tang, Yourself Or Someone Like You, Wildflowers and I am sure about 50 others were better than that

Thom Yorke's voice just becomes annoying after a few songs.

I can agree with this, but his vocals were top notch on OK and they have never been better. The Tourist is mesmerizing.

Definitely talented, but not some life changing experience like most of their hardcore fans would suggest.

I think that "life-changing" is a very vague, objective term, so to claim that it hasn't touched many a life in profound ways is just plain dumb.

Is it one of the GOAT albums of the nineties? Of course it is. To say otherwise is also just plain dumb.

Or, you could just hate Radiohead. I can't stand to hear a second of anything other than Creep. It's not dumb. It's a matter of taste. This band's popularity is the most puzzling one for me in all of music.

There are plenty of bands whose sound I do not enjoy, but I can still recognize that it might be truly profound to someone else. As far as actually feeling hate for a band because you don't like listening to them, that's just kind of strange.

Not hate for the band. Hate hearing the music.

This is exactly how I feel. Its not that the music is even ok, it is just horrible to me. I really cannot understand what people like about it. The music hurts my ears, the singing is blah and it just sounds like a mess. I even tried to listen to it again last night and couldn't make it past the first 2 songs.

By what metric is it one of the GOAT albums of the 90's?

It sounds like you are basing it on your opinion and anyone that says differently is wrong.

It's unanimously rated by critics and music fans alike as one of the best albums of the nineties.

So no, I'm not just basing it solely on my opinion. It sounds like people in this thread are saying that it's not one of the best of the 90s because they don't personally like it. What other argument do you guys have besides "I don't like it"?

I don't think you know what unanimously means.

I think the word you are looking for is consensus.

If you aren't going by album sales, top 10 hits, etc., then you are basing it off personal opinion. There's nothing wrong with that, but because someone has a different opinion it doesn't make them dumb. I don't see how my sister listens to most of the shite she likes, but I don't think she's dumb for listening to it. Just different tastes. In my opinion, OK Computer isn't one of the best 500 albums of the 90s.

It's own Wiki page says, "In a poll surveying thousands conducted by BBC Radio 6 Music, OK Computer was named the sixth most over-rated album "in the world"."

Thanks for the correction.

Doesn't make my point any different.

seriously? That is an asinine statement. But while we are at it, OK Computer has been certified triple platinum in the UK and double platinum in the US, in addition to certifications in other markets.

How is this a comparable scenario? I am not saying anyone is dumb for listening to music they like...I only said that, to not be able to recognize reality is dumb.

all great, polarizing albums have many people who think that they over-rated. I bet you could find thousands of people that say Dark Side of the Moon is overrated.

Yes, I think it is the GOAT, but I'm cool with people that don't agree with that. Everyone has different tastes.
