Is International Players Anthem the greatest rap song ever?

I love it.

Whether it is or it isn't is of course highly debatable. One thing that isn't debatable is that the song is pure awesomeness.

Love this song but I would have to say no to being the greatest.

I dont know about the best. But I dont think anybody will argue it's a timeless song

The Willie Hutch sample was actually done by DJ Paul & Juicy J for Project Pat. The song was Choose U on Project Pat's 2002 Layin' Da Smack Down album. Pimp C heard the beat & told Bun B he had to have it for the Underground Kings album.



***Fun Fact***

Pimp C was a huge Project Pat fan. Pimp C's song I Know You Strapped describing an incident where a Dallas promoter (some dude named K-Rude, the hitman name was Ron Robinson) had a hit on him, was from a Project Pat's line on Drive By (around the 0:47 mark). Drive By was Hypnotize Minds Camp Posse 2000 album.



The final verse of I Know You Strapped is a shot at Master P. P wanted UGK on No Limit Records around 2000. Beats by the Pound was leaving No Limit at the time so P needed an in house producer & some artist with some appeal as No Limit was starting to fade. Even though they were the opening act on the Cash Money/Ruff Ryders tour, word had spread that UGK's set was the best of the tour.

Master P tried to use his pull to have UGK pulled off the tour so he could add them to an upcoming No Limit tour. Pimp C & Bun B found out through Jive what P was trying to do. On back to back nights in Mobile & Lafayette, Pimp C lead frick Master P & frick No Limit chants with the crowd. P got word of what Pimp C was doing & call Pimp's Mama Wes who their manager at the time to ask why Pimp was doing what he did. Words were exchanged.

"And to that phony Tupac who threaten my precious Momma, you & V-90 (Master P's bodyguard) is some bitches for life you'll feel the drama. They gonna be flying you to the center for the gunshot trauma. You could get hit in your Bentley or your purple Impala. Pala, Pala, Pala, Pala, Pala. You could hit in your Bentley or purple Impala. Bitch."





A few days later P calls again with his lawyer on three way. P threatens to kill everyone in the UGK camp even Pimp's mom. Months later Pimp C is in a Sugar Land hotel with a female. It just so happened that Master P & his manager Anthony "Big Boz" Boswell was there too. P finds out Pimp C is there from the girl at the front desk. Pimp C door gets busted in by four dudes with ski mask on. One dude puts a knive to his throat, another puts a pistol to his head. They tell him he better stop talking shite about No Limit or he will end up dead. The four dudes then beat the crap out Pimp. The one with the gun pistol whips him. Finally the guy with the gun takes off his ski mask. It was Master P. He tells Pimp don't feel played because they had just done the same thing to Mystikal a few days before & even cut off his dreads because he had messed with Monica behind C-Murder's back.

Pay attention to the end of Swing Down/10 A Key (Another Master P diss song) When Pimp talks at the end it he says, "You should have killed me that night in that hotel room bitch. You ain't gonna get no mo chances like that. "frick you and your pussy arse brother (Master P & C-Murder). Life ain't rehearsed. You don’t know when a n**** gonna try to hit you. Not your lil brother, (Silkk the Shocker) that other pussy arse n****. You too muthafrickin small for the both of us bitch. You betta sell your house (Master P's Houston mansion) its mine. J Prince said that bitch. And frick that R & B bitch (Monica) you be with too. Pimp went to bat for Mystikal too there.

Anyway, its all in this book.



This is damn good book for any UGK fan out there. There's a ton of information that ties a bunch of situations & southern rappers together in it. I'm not sure how Big Pimpin ever came about. Pimp C hated the beat. He told Bun B, "mane listen to the gay arse flutes in this thang" after Jay FedEx shipped the beat to them. He felt Timberland had ripped Jay-Z off of $100,000 for it & called the track "boo boo". Pimp C also couldn't stand Jay-Z. It took an act of Congress to get him on there. When he finally decided to do it he said Jay only gets 8 bars. frick'em. Pimp C also stirred a bunch of shite at the video shoot to get under Jay's skin. Its crazy because Jay was very open about being a big UGK fan.
