Foo Fighters are my favorite band.
AMAZING live performances, and if you have never been, it would easily be in your top 3-5 depending on how many live shows you have seen.
As far as the symbolism attempt...neh.

Plenty of awesome rock out there. Not much of it is popular enough to fill arenas though.

There's far more to it than a simple age gap. People don't care anymore because the association of rock music is linked to a bygone era through the incessant and toxic overplaying of the "classics".
I've always associated rock with a rebellious nature. There's always gonna be kids pissed off at the world or who just don't want to conform with the masses. Rock will never die.

Blindside is amazing. Just wanted to specifically iterate that.
Personally, I prefer bands like Demon Hunter, Haste the Day, Becoming the Archetype, Underoath, Wolves at the Gate, Norma Jean(rip)...etc

Sorry for partying?
Seriously, while Underoath and WATG are average, Demon Hunter, Haste the Day(wJimmy), and Becoming the Archetype(second lineup) are/were all excellent bands.
Demon Hunter has released 7 albums, and Extremist is the only one I can't listen on a consistent basis.
I maintain my statement regarding Blindside as well.
For the record, I do not exclusively listen to Christian bands. Those 4, within the constraints I listed, are just very, very good bands.
