cant believe I forgot Maria McKee...

check this out from 1985 when she was in Lone Justice

Don't Toss Us Away

and solo a few years later covering Van Morrison's (Them)

My Lonely Sad Eyes

WHAT?! I'm usually the only person I know who loves Maria McKee!

Sweet Sweet Baby Mine

Ways to be Wicked

Don't know that I think of her as country.

Maria McKee's half-brother Bryan Maclean was in the 1960s band Love, for whom he wrote the classic "Alone Again Or" (nothing at all to do with country music, but somebody might be interested)

yeah, Ive used a pretty liberal definition and her sound has evolved to cross many genres...

But when she started in Lone Justice, they were right in the middle of the LA cow punk scene... which is deeply rooted in country music

I always liked this tune she did with Marc Olson and Gary Louris (Jayhawks)

Precious Time

Her genre doesn't really make a difference to me. I listened to that Lone Justice cd (well, it was probably a cassette) many many times.

Maria McKee and Lou Ann Barton ... two voices I loved instantly on first listen. I will put Susan Tedeschi and Lucinda Williams in the same category of love at first listen.
