How Many Musicians Visit the Music Board

In light of my recent "squabble" over drummers in the Journey thread.....I was wondering how many musicians we have posting here.
What do you play?
How many years have you played?
Professionally?

Started learning guitar about 4 years ago when I turned 50. NOT a professional or anywhere close enough to be, but I enjoy the hell out of it.

Guitarist for just over 30 years. Focused on repairs/mods/upgrades/restos more than playing lately.

It's good to be here, it's good to be anywhere.

I've been playing Trumpet since the 6th grade and guitar since 11th grade.
I've been playing off and on in random local bands on trumpet or guitar for about 6 years. I've been with my current band for about a year and a half.

Played trumpet in 6th grade.
Switched to baritone in 7th.
Ended up playing French horn/mellophone in highschool.
Had picked up guitar around the same time but never got very good with it. Still managed to spend $75 on a cheap Japanese made solid body (which I still have) and another $100 or so on a Fender Champ Reverb (which I wish I'd kept).
During my sophomore year of high school, our band director approached me about playing bass for the jazz band. He knew I could read music and had some very rudimentary fret experience. Plus he was desperate.
He supplied me with a Fender MusicMaster and an ancient Ampeg B10 amp. I set it up.in my bedroom and started playing around with it. By the end of the evening I was hooked.
That was 40 years ago. Haven't played professionally as much as I'd like, but still recording and banging away at it with friends.

We actually have a VERY legit musician with an A List resume who posts here. Mostly on the political board. Like most people he rarely mentions his "work". Can't mention names, sworn to secrecy.

Kiddie organ and xylophone when I was a kid, along with access to a piano and adult organ. Cello in 4th grade, sax in 5th. Played professionally as an adult with synthesizers, samplers with the help of my TASCAM, MIDI, and lots and lots of pedals.

Drums. Started in 1987 just jamming with friends. Progressed to the "serious band" thing; e.g. recorded an album, did a little regional touring around the Southest culminating with a showcase for Warner Brothers Records back in 2002. The showcase never amounted to anything, though, and we all returned to our day jobs...

Here.
Been playing guitar since '91. Degree in music. Played in several touring bands, one of which played in the BR scene back in 2000's (caterie days)
Teach professionally and run a music school.
Have a new band now.
So yea, I do the music thing a little bit and visit here...

I'm not a musician, but my grandfather on my mothers side of the family, who I never met and passed away in 2005, was an amazing musician. He could play six instruments, could song just like Paul McCartney, and he was also ZZ top's backup drummer for a while. He nearly became Paul Mccartney's drummer too. When he had showed up in New Orleans for the "tryout", he was notified that McCartney had just picked a new drummer. Very disappointing to him as McCartney was his idol, and wanted to meet him badly, but didn't get to.

I've been playing guitar and harmonica for years, harmonica being my go to. In the past 5 years I've picked fiddle and piano. Scoping out lap steels at the moment.
I play gigs every now and again and have recently, past few years or so, started writing and recording with some folks. Bought a Focusrite home studio set a few months ago.

Without a doubt, some of the most talented musicians in the world come from Louisiana.....north and south Louisiana.
